Η Οργανωτική Επιτροπή Ενίσχυσης Βιβλιοθηκών (ΟΕΕΒ) διοργανώνει το Διεθνές συνέδριο με τίτλο “Reading Prescriptions: Reading and Information-Seeking in a Digital Age” ως δορυφορική εκδήλωση του Διεθνούς Συνεδρίου LibEdu 2026.
The Organizing Committee for the Support of Libraries (OEEB) is organizing the international 1-day conference “Reading Prescriptions: Reading and Information-Seeking in a Digital Age” as a satellite event of the LibEdu 2026 International Conference.
Libraries today face the challenge of winning back users whose reading and information-seeking habits have shifted markedly toward digital and social platforms. Research suggests that digital reading, often shorter and less complex than printed text, may be eroding comprehension skills, particularly in younger readers, while declining engagement with print appears to disrupt the virtuous cycle in which sustained reading builds the skills needed to pursue more demanding texts. This conference invites librarians, educators and anyone with an interest in reading and information habits to examine these shifts and their implications for the role of libraries: as repositories of information, as champions of long-form reading, and as spaces that can help readers rediscover sources and depths of engagement that social media alone cannot offer.
The official language of the conference is English
