Books - Sheet music
The collections of Greek books and sheet music originates from several sources and comprises a fundamental part of the broader Archive. The collection of books - which currently exceeds 8.000 items - aims to form the basis of a full Greek music bibliography. It contains books not only about music but also about relative arts such as ancient greek art, byzantine art, greek theater, greek painting, greek cinema etc. Correspondingly, the sheet music collection contains worsk of past as well as contemporary Greek composers such as M. Kalomiris, M. Hatzidakis, G. Christou, T. Antoniou and more.
The main volume of this collection can be accessed through the Library's Catalogue.
Audiovisual material
Within the Greek Music Department more than 5.000 titles of audiovisual material such as CDs, DVDs, VHSs, cassettes, records etc can be found. These cover a wide range from earlier to recent publications, amateur or professional recordings and video recordings including art music as well as traditional and byzantine music.
Access to these collections is mainly available through the Acquisitions while a major part is also available in the Library's Catalogue.
Within the context of digitization programmes that have taken place in the Library, part of the records collection that have been piblished in Greece and have not been republished ever since, has been digitized. Information for these records can be found in the Digital Collections while the audio files are only availabe Within the premises of the Library.
Music journals
Within the main resources concerning the evolution of Greeka art music of the second half of the 19th century and the first have of the 20th century, are without a doubt the music journals of the time. At this time the Library has 178 titles of Greek music journals.
Access to the journals is provided through the Library's Catalogue and further details can be found in the Indexing database.
Indivudual digitized articles can also be found through the Library's Greek Music Journals Collection which currently contains more than 6.500 articles from more than 20 journals.
Programs
Programs provide an important source of information for Greek music. For that reason, the Library has been diligently collecting the programs of all major music companies such as the Greek National Opera, the Athens State Orchestra, the Athens Epidaurus Festival, thus creating a notable collection of past programs.
At this moment more than 3.500 programs are accessible through the Programs database.
Over 2.000 programs of the collection have been digitized and can be found through the Programs Digital Collection.
Rare material
This collection includes rare publications of books, manuscripts, correspondance, photograps and personal items from prominent figures of the Greek music life.
Also included in this collection are the collected works of Yorgos Sicillianos in digitized form, microfilms of the works of Dionysios Visvardis, the Byzantine manuscripts of Bibliotheque National, as well as the collection of manuscripts from the Abbey of Saint Mary of Grottaferrata near Rome dating from the 11th to the 14th century.

The collections of Byzantine music as well as the manuscripts of Greek composers have been digitized and can be found in the Digital Repository.
