Lending

The entire collection of the Library is available for in-library use. After locating the items they need on the online catalogue, patrons can either use them immediately, if they are located in Reading Rooms A and B, or request them at the Circulation Desk, if they are located in the closed Bookstacks.

Patrons are allowed to check out up to 5 Bookstacks items at a time. They can ask at the Circulation Desk for these items to be reserved for up to 5 days. Items coming from the Bookstacks must be returned to the Circulation Desk.

Borrowing material for use outside the Library premises is available for members who are over 18 years old and own a Friend of the Library membership card. Owners of this card are allowed to borrow up to 3 items (up to 2 items from our audio-visual collection), for 5 working days. They can also ask for a 5-day renewal, provided that the items have not been requested by other Library members. Renewal can be requested at the Circulation Desk, or by calling at +30 210 728 2778.

For each day an item is kept past its due date, there is a €1 fine. Members who delay systematically the return of materials to the Library, may be deprived of their right to borrow material.

Items unavailable for loan include: books and scores located in Reading Rooms A and B, oversized books, rare items, periodicals, unpublished scores, worn items, LPs, microfilms and microfiches, and material belonging to the Library’s Archives.
