Description:

A musical performance featuring documents from the Mikis Theodorakis Archive

In celebration of the Year of Mikis Theodorakis (marking 100 years since his birth), the precious Archive entrusted by the composer himself in 1997 to the Music Library, and continuously updated since, is opening its doors to children for the very first time! The stage fills with images, sounds, and true stories from Mikis’s life that inspired some of his most beloved songs.

Three actor-musicians perform live on guitar, piano, flute, singing, acting out dramatized scenes, and inviting children on an exciting journey where Mikis Theodorakis’s life walks hand in hand with Greece’s history. Scores, diaries, photographs, and personal items are projected on a screen, serving as a springboard for discoveries, questions, and answers.

The Archive becomes the canvas of an interactive performance that highlights the multifaceted personality of the composer: the man, the creator, the fighter, the visionary — a global Greek with deep roots in folk tradition. Young viewers watch Mikis grow up and meet great poets like Seferis, Elytis, and Ritsos. They actively participate, sing, think, are moved, and discover how music can speak to the heart, unite, and inspire. They get to know Mikis’s cultural heritage, a force capable of changing the world, a true treasure!
