A decade after its triumphant debut, Sweet Symphony — the musical-colourful fairy tale by the award-winning composer Giorgos Voukanou, with text and lyrics by Mary Voukanou — returns to the same venue to celebrate ten years of sweetness, music and imagination that touched the hearts of thousands, both young and old.
The songs are performed by Anda Athanasopoulou, breathing new life into the musical characters of the work. After its successful performances, the beloved musical fairy-tale returns on Sunday, December 21 at 18:00 at the Athens Concert Hall, in the Teaching Hall of the “Lilian Voudouri” Music Library — a festive, refreshed and more vibrant version than ever.
The new anniversary edition features top-notch participation from the Gotsis Puppet Theatre.
In this year’s celebratory performance, the Gotsis Puppet Theatre adds a special theatrical atmosphere and magic to the production. The voices of the heroes are brought to life by three beloved and distinguished actors:

Sweet Symphony transports us to an enchanted forest, to the Sugary Kingdom, and to a world of sweet scents, colours and wonders. There, the Fairy-Tale Wolf — once misunderstood and frightened — decides to change his fate and bring joy back to the city’s inhabitants.
The pastry-chef “Sugar-Dust” Zacharenios, the Prince and Princess, the Evil Fairy of Fairy Tales, and the lost smiles weave a story full of tenderness, symbolism and Christmas magic.
Through a narrative that smells of powdered sugar and warm Christmas bread, the fairy-tale speaks of the power of kindness, the value of transformation, and the hope that returns even in the most challenging times.
The journey of the story
When night falls in the Sugary Kingdom, the Fairy-Tale Wolf, sitting atop the highest tower of the castle, remembers a life filled with misunderstandings, fear and the dark commands of the Evil Fairy. But now everything has changed.
In his new effort to become what he truly is — good — he must confront again the Fairy who wishes to steal Christmas joy. Will he succeed in bringing back the smiles? Where did they go? On what path are the smiles of people lost — and how do they return?
These questions become the heart of a story that moves, enlightens and unites — offering a sweet note of optimism to the everyday of today.
10 years of musical magic
This year Sweet Symphony celebrates its decade with a full audiovisual spectacle — music, narration, puppet theatre, visuals and a live performance. The fairy-tale is also released on CD and available online on all streaming platforms from Melody Spirit, and at the M-Shop — the store of the Athens Concert Hall.
